Description of the project
PlayMatters is a 5-year project funded by the Lego Foundation with a focus on the use of Learning through Play (active student-centered approaches) in the classroom by strengthening the teacher professional development structures in Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania in refugee and host communities. The project goal is improved holistic learning and wellbeing for children ages 3-12+. War Child operates as the lead in the PlayMatters consortium on psychosocial wellbeing (with an emphasis on teacher and child wellbeing) and is the research co-lead. War Child offices are in Uganda, with frequent travel to project activities in Tanzania and Ethiopia.

“energetic professional with solid technical expertise and passion for quality programming and capacity building”
As Technical Advisor – Learning through Play (TA-LtP) within the Research and Development team, must have strong expertise and experience in at least one of the PlayMatters technical areas of work (ECCE/primary education, Education in Emergencies (EiE), teacher professional development and/or MHPSS). S/he must have a strong interest and knowledge of psychosocial wellbeing with preferred experience in MHPSS programming in refugee/EiE settings.
