Background

The Project Officer – Start up incubation and Acceleration will support to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, with a particular focus on the emerging Green and Circular Economy (GCE) in order to contribute to the creation of an inducive environment that allows new businesses in the GCE to thrive.

Joining Enabel as a Project Officer – Start Up/ Incubation and Acceleration, you will be directly reporting to the Project Manager and you will perform the following key tasks:

• You contribute to the identification and set-up of actions to support the development of a coordination mechanism for the start-up and scale-up ecosystem;
• You contribute to the design of implementing partnerships with entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs) which establish a pipeline approach for business support initiatives targeting start-ups and young businesses in the GCE.
• You support the project and implementing partners to develop and implement tailored business development services for selected start-ups and scale-ups;
• You act as private sector account manager by engaging and building relationships with start-ups and scale-ups participating in the project to assess their needs and to monitor the quality and effectiveness of business support activities;

Your profile

• A Masters’ degree in Business Administration, Economics or any other related field
• A Bachelor’s degree in private sector development, business administration, Economics, Investment finance or any other related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in implementing financial and non-financial support mechanisms and tools geared towards the scaling or growth of innovative and dynamic young enterprises;
• A minimum of 3 years proven experience in support to the Ugandan start-up ecosystem;
• Experience in business development in the green and circular economy is an added advantage;
• Experience in the organizational and institutional strengthening of business development service providers is an added advantage.
• You have in depth knowledge of the Ugandan entrepreneurship ecosystem and technical and financial enterprise development needs of the Ugandan private sector;
• Expertise in business planning and development, business coaching, financial literacy development and other related areas aimed at supporting growth of innovative and dynamic young enterprises;

• A salary package comprising an Annual gross salary between UGX 84,000,000 and UGX 96,000,000 that is commensurate with experience and in accordance with our salary scales, medical insurance and a 13th-month paid in December.
