BACKGROUND:                   

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the world’s leading crisis response agencies, providing life-saving assistance and supporting recovery and reconstruction for people affected by war and natural disasters. Active in public health, education, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, youth development, and protection and promotion of rights, IRC assists people from harm to home.

The IRC was registered in Uganda in mid-1998 and implements rehabilitation activities in the sectors of Child and Youth Protection and development, Health, Economic recovery and Development and women protection and empowerment as well as contributing to the response to the Southern Sudanese Refugee situation. IRC Uganda has a head office in Kampala, field offices in Kitgum, Karamoja, and West Nile and south western.

Responsibilities:

  •    Coordinating project activities that involve the management and storage of
  •    Commodities including pharmaceutical supplies and medical equipment
  •      Ensuring the availability of cost-effective, safe, efficacious, and rational use
  •     Pharmaceutical products through the use of different tools e.g., SPARS.
  •    Strengthening the process of Logistics management of supplies in alignment with MOH guidelines.
  •    Ensure tracking and accountability for all medical and pharmaceutical
  •    products and related supplies used by the health facilities.
  •    Support forecasting and quantification of supplies obtained from the warehouse.
  •     Support good storage and distribution practices at both warehouse and facilities.
  •    Prepare monthly reports for both the donors and internally as IRC.
  •    Use and regular updating of the available Pharma inventory systems like Rx solution.
  •    Capacity building and mentorship for all facility dispensers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •     Have a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  •     Active Registration with the Allied Medical Practitioners Council with proof of practicing license.
  •     At least two years of experience in an NGO setting in a similar position.
