Raising the Village

Job Description

The District Head will report to the Regional Manager. The District Head works to support Raising The Village (RTV) programs in Uganda and to support RTV’s Team Leads and Officers in all aspects of their work. S/he provides a mentorship and leadership role for all staff and ensures follow-up and follow-through as per project designs and work plans. An RTV District Manager is also responsible for resolving issues and serving as a link between staff and management.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can guide, coach, mentor, and train employees.  Someone who is well versed in processes under the role’s responsibilities will be results-driven and focused. The goal is to ensure that project activities and office operations are carried out to ensure sustainable growth and success within RTV and projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

Project Management 

  • Report weekly plans of activities and key deliverables to team leads every Friday for the coming week.
  • Debrief with Team Leads and Officers on project progress in the communities (covering deliverables, key issues and risks, and key activities in villages)
  • Identify key issues and risks for projects during project reporting.
  • Oversee the timely and effective execution of the day-to-day activity, work plans, and project life cycles, starting from project identification to implementation to post-implementation and evaluation, to ensure that organizational objectives are achieved.
  • Strategic growth and resource planning, recruitment, supervision, and training and development of program staff.
  • On-the-ground sourcing and procurement of trainers and supplies, with cost and delivery evaluations.
  • Strategic planning and execution of strategic initiatives to further RTV’s mission and program strategy.
  • Create a detailed work plan that identifies and sequences the activities in different communities.
  • Review project schedules with Team Leads and other staff to ensure community problems and issues are resolved necessary to ensure the successful completion of planned activities;
  • Monitor the progress of community activities and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of planned activities;

Methodology 

  • Provide contributions and feedback to project designs and methodologies;
  • Support implementation and transition activities;
