Role:
Responsible for the integrity and security of the database. Plan and develop the database, as well as troubleshoot any issues on behalf of the users
Key Result Areas:
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
- Maintain well-functioning databases.
- Establish the needs of users and monitor user access, permissions, privileges and security
- Maintain data standards, including adherence to the ICT policy
- Manage and fine tune the databases to minimize database downtime and to provide fast responses
- Implement database best practices for data protection and security.
- Monitor database performance trends, implement changes, apply and test new patches and versions when required in line with ICT policy
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
- Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving performance issues
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelors IT/Computer Science/Engineering (Hons)
- OCA certified
- ITIL certification added advantage
- Oracle RAC experience added advantage
- Microsoft Azure Database Administration training added advantage
- Unix/Linux Administration experience
- Management and administration: MSSQL Server, Postgres, Oracle, MySQL Workbench RDBMS
- System administration experience
Required Experience and Competences:
- 2 years minimum experience as a DBA in a large financial institution, Telecom or a reputable organization
