Job Summary: The Business Development Manager will manage MHIL’s business. The position holder will identify and solicit business opportunities for MHIL and provide leadership to the investments and resource mobilization and leadership functions of MHIL.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Organisational Leadership
- Provide day to day leadership for MHIL team
- Contribute to organizational plans and strategies geared towards MHIL’s operational excellence
- Provide consulting services on matters of fundraising, tax, insurance, and business development.
- Provide inspiration, operational oversight, and other administrative services to MHIL’s business.
- Set targets for MHIL’s employees and provide guidance toward achieving the overall vision.
Operational Leadership
- Improve operational systems, processes, and policies in line with MHIL’s vision, mission, core values and policies.
- Continually measure and improve on the core activities that add value to MHIL
- Drive operational efficiency to remain competitiveness and profitable
- Improve on the framework of processes systems, structures to support MHIL’s employees and members.
Business Development
- Develop MHIL’s long and short-term business plans
- Grow and expand MHIL businesses
- Build new partnerships
- Propose new business deals, discover and explore new opportunities
- Screen and analyse new potential business engagements
Financial Management
- Oversee financial management, planning systems and controls of the MHIL
- Develop annual budgets and work plans of the entity
- Carry out budget performance and cashflow supervision
- Mobilise financial resources for the company
- Develop long-term financial forecasts and plans
- Provide monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial reports to the Board
- Ensure remittance of statutory returns in a timely manner
- Ensure readiness of books of accounts for both internal and external audits
Risk Management
- Ensure MHIL undertakes relevant insurance and safeguards against various risks
- Serve as a primary liaison in addressing legal matters
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- The applicant should hold a university degree in a business-related discipline. A Master’s degree in business administration or post-graduate qualification in finance, project appraisal, business analysis will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of four (4) years of proven related work experience at middle level management
- This position requires a person who is a self-starter and is able to demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism and good management skills; is knowledgeable and experienced in business development; a team player, decision maker who is able to work under tight deadlines with minimum supervision and is a multi-tasker.
- He or she must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- He or she must have a good networking, marketing, and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical skills and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office package is required.
