We are looking for a Project Coordinator to play a vital role in our vision to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere by 2030. We’re looking for people who share the commitment to our vision.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To manage the project phases efficiently and effectively for the proposed hand pump improvement project currently in its final stage of donor approval. This involves working with district partners particularly Kabarole and Masindi district authorities together with the regional water and sanitation centers and non-state actors to ensure that effective implementation modalities are agreed. This project also entails engaging with the Appropriate Technology Center ATC and MWE relevant departments as part of the external stakeholders. The role also entails delivering advocacy results through collaboration with the Agenda for Change members. Being a collaborative research, the Project coordinator will also engage with the Neale consultants and Global support teams as need arises through the Head of programmes.

The project will focus on a total of 100 sites across the two districts (Kabarole and Masindi). The aim is to prove the Poldaw riser pipe solution delivers improved water quality (less iron), improved pump performance (less downtime), similar yields and cheaper maintenance costs at depth (40 meters and beyond) compared with other riser pipe configurations. WaterAid aims to test this solution on deeper boreholes, which are over 30m deep which will prove it is suitable for installation in a range of settings.

The Project Coordinator will lead planning, implementation of interventions aimed at improving WASH coordination, monitoring, planning, governance and accountability systems as well as demonstrating sustainable WASH service delivery models in the selected districts and communities. He/She will support the Project Officer in coordinating operational project activities with district partners including sites selection, stakeholder identification at community level, technical assessments, installations documentation of lessons, progress monitoring and reporting.

Education and Aptitude

· Master’s Degree in Civil and/ or Water resources Engineering, or any other relevant or applicable studies

· Advance research skills

· Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, influencing and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with WaterAid partners, government, donors, CSOs and with a wide range of other stakeholders

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;

· Commitment to WaterAid’s values and working style
